Hon. Lon Hurwitz ’79 has served as a bench officer for the Orange County Superior Court since 2004. During that time, he has been assigned to the Child Support, Domestic Violence, Family Law General Inventory, and Supervising Judge positions for the Court. From 2008 until 2010, he served on the California State Judicial Council pursuant to appointment by Chief Justice Ron George and was the Judicial Council liaison to the State Domestic Violence Task Force. Additionally, he has served as the Chair of the Court Domestic Violence Coordination Committee and the Orange County Family Violence Council. In 2009, he created and implemented the first Family Law Veterans’ Domestic Violence Diversion Program in the U.S., with the approval of the Veterans’ Administration.
